With ODK Central v1.2, you can now edit submissions on the server! To ensure your data stays valid, every change you make must still satisfy all the constraints of the form. Every edit you make is stored so you can always see how the data has changed over time.
Submission reviewing, flagging, and commenting
In addition to editing, users can now accept, flag, reject, or comment on each submission. These actions are shown in an activity feed so other users can see that you made a change and understand why you made that change. And yes, you can filter submissions by review status so you can choose to download only accepted submissions.
Speaking of downloads, with Central's OData feed, you no longer have to download data manually. Just connect Excel, Power BI, or R directly to Central and you'll get a spreadsheet or dashboard that automatically updates as new submissions come in. You really can automate your data analysis and visualization with just a few clicks!
Learn more about all the improvements to Central v1.2 in our release notes. If you are using ODK Cloud, you've already been upgraded. If you are not using ODK Cloud, follow these upgrade instructions.
Saying goodbye to Aggregate and XLSForm Offline
ODK Aggregate, our venerable server, has now reached end-of-life status and is no longer being updated. XLSForm Offline is also no longer being updated. Learn more about these changes at https://forum.getodk.org/tag/end-of-life.
If you are a developer, note that we’ll be making breaking changes in Collect to modernize the code base. See https://forum.getodk.org/tag/breaking-changes for more.
Learning more via live demos and an upcoming webinar
Seven months ago, we launched ODK Cloud to give organizations a fast, reliable, and hassle-free way to use ODK. It's been amazing to see so many of you sign up for a subscription! If you’ve got an upcoming project were you want to try Central on ODK Cloud, request a personalized live demo.
We'll also be holding a "Clean Data, Clean Dashboard" webinar on Jun 9th at 1 PM UTC / 9 AM EST to show you how to use ODK's newest features to keep your data clean and how to connect that data to a real-time dashboard. You can watch a recording of the webinar at Webinar: Clean Data, Clean Dashboard.
