We kicked off the conversation with project highlights from @Insiders on the call. Thanks to @EduardoCM, @jules_rugwiro, @rfvieira, @Tyler_Depke, @ahblake, and @Paul_Bessell for sharing what you’re working on
The focus this month was on learning resources. Our goal at ODK is to support users at all experience levels—from first-time users to power users. Striking the right balance with resources can be tricky, so it was great to hear what’s working and what can be improved. Here is a summary of what we heard:
What’s working well
- Docs continue to be people’s go to resource!
- Forum posts (and using AI to help filter)
- Concrete examples, diagrams, videos, and tutorials
- Building other people’s forms is a great way to learn
What can be improved
- Make it easier to find real examples & showcases
- More examples with complex logic
- Seeing how community members build their forms –– even if it's a "Frankenstein form" or a little messy behind the scenes, no shame
!
We also spent a bit of time talking about what resources exist, and @ktuite shared a new Entities Quick Reference. We would love to hear from others using Entities - we have a few poll questions here. Our plan is build a template library to make it easier to get started and learn from other projects working in similar domains.
Roadmap updates
- Collect: check out the new beta with MDM support, working on edits to finalized/sent forms
- Central: working on form draft page, Web Forms integration, and limiting access to Entities
- Web Forms: soon you will be able to opt-in to Web Forms!
