Hello,
I'm from India
I've been extensively using Kobotoolbox since 2018, collecting more than 300,000 samples for certain data collection. Recently I started using ODK Collect as I have switched to a new job. Yet I find new things to learn like integrating with automated analysis and visualization dashboards.
Look forward to learn more.
Hi everyone! I'm Nicole, a product designer passionate about open source and social impact, based in Victoria, Canada. I recently joined the ODK team and am excited to contribute to the platform and community and to collaborate with you all
Hello!
I am Tino a Research Engineer from "Wageningen University and Research" wur.nl from the Netherlands.
We are using odk in different use cases mostly related to all kinds of fields in agriculture.
We are running the containers in our on-premise kubernetes cluster and have also developed in in-house helm chart for deploying odkcentral with some light modifications on the existing containerimages.
It would be nice to further develop this. And I would like to collaborate with others to get to a maintainable helm chart for everybody to use. If you are interested please let me know.
Hi, my name is Stijn, volunteer for https://www.waterlandvzw.be. We are using the ODK (via Kobo) for a citizen science campaign in Flanders on water quality sampling.
Hi, I'm Antony from Indonesia. I'm interested in using ODK to collect industrial sensor data and integrate it with systems like PI Historian. Has anyone done this? What challenges did you face?
My name is Tatenda J. Chimutanda, and I'm currently based in Zimbabwe. I'm in the last semester of my Public Health degree at Chreso University in Zambia, where I've been pursuing my studies via distance learning. In addition to my degree, I hold a diploma in Pharmacy, and I recently completed a certificate in Project Management, Monitoring, and Evaluation from Catholic University of Zimbabwe. Right now, I'm also diving into Data Analysis through the ICDL program, focusing on tools like Excel, SQL, Python, Power BI, and R.
I've been working in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sector for over 8 years, particularly in roles like managing ART, medicine dispensing, procurement, and supply chain management. I'm passionate about data-driven decision-making, which led me to get involved with ODK, where I've been exploring how data collection tools can streamline and enhance monitoring and evaluation in healthcare projects.
When I'm not working or studying, I enjoy spending time with my family and exploring new technologies. I’m looking forward to learning from and contributing to the ODK community. You can follow my work and thoughts through my GitHub
Fun fact: I have a passion for exploring human health through data, and I hope to integrate this with my long-term goal of pursuing an MPH in Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
Hi, I'm Amélie from France.
I'm an evolutionary ecologist, working at the CNRS on breeding phenology in hole-nesting birds, particulary in the city of Montpellier. Part of my job is related to data management, and I've started using ODK in 2022 to improve and harmonize our data collection.
This means that I've been a passive reader of this forum and the incredible resources related to ODK for three years! It is time to stop being shy and introduce myself to this great community.
Although I've never post anything here in the past three years, I already feel as part of the ODK community!
Hi everyone! Been part of this forum for a while now and I realized I hadn't properly introduced myself to the community, so here goes!
My name is Hussein and I am a software engineer (currently freelance) in Nairobi. I have been tinkering with software development for over 20 years, the past 15 in the development sector and early in my career we embarked on a project to build an M&E system in C# and as part of that, an offline data collection tool. Eventually we came across ODK which does it all SO much better and I have been part of the eco-system ever since, whether it's helping design XLSForms, setting up form validations or designing Python data pipelines to pull data from ODK into data warehouses.
Looking forward to continued interactions and friendship with the community at large
We have been using ODK for 10 years now, first to support performance financing based schemes and now more and more to support health campaigns. Being in need of additional features we developed tools around ODK to manage large teams.
I'm usually based in Brussels, Belgium.
I blog at https://multitasked.net/ and you can find me on about all social media platforms as @madewulf (for example, on mastodon: https://mastodon.social/@madewulf)
I love playing guitar, playing video games (currently Dark Souls 3), vacationing with my family, usually around Europe, and work with my great software team.
Fun fact: before working in data collection, I had a hobby of data visualization and I created the relatively well known https://www.populationpyramid.net/ that is visualizing population data that I now help to collect using ODK based tools.
My name is Bernard, originally from Cameroon, and I’m thrilled to be part of this vibrant community. I work as an epidemiologist and public health researcher, with over eight years of experience in developing and implementing digital health systems. A major part of my work has focused on SORMAS—an open-source platform for integrated disease surveillance and outbreak management, currently used across several countries.
My current focus is on strengthening interdisciplinary health surveillance systems that connect human, animal, and environmental health sectors, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. As part of this, I’m exploring how open-source tools like ODK, SORMAS, and R-Shiny can be integrated to enhance real-time data collection, analysis, and reporting, especially for zoonotic and waterborne diseases. I greatly value the flexibility and reliability that ODK offers for building dynamic forms and collecting diverse data types, even in challenging field settings.
I’m looking forward to learning from this community, sharing ideas, and contributing to the advancement of open-source digital public health tools.
Warm regards,
Bernard

My name is Tinetariro, and I’m from Zimbabwe. I initially started using ODK casually, experimenting with Aggregate without any specific project in mind. I only got involved in a real world project last year when I was tasked with building a form to collect data for a crop experiment. This is the project which has brought me here as I have encountered a few challenges along the way.
When I’m not working with ODK, I’m involved in other GIS related tasks and enjoy taking random photos, which I share on my Instagram: instagram.com/tareraww.
I'm based in France and working with ODK since few weeks now for ecology topics. It's very new to me but I appreciate all the help I've already found here !
Favorite things to do would be herping, birding, climbing from time to time and hike in the mountains.
Hi everyone, I am currently working in Mozambique, Renewable Energy. Since 1983 I am involved in electrification in Sub Saharan Afrika, and want to use ODK Collect for surveying schools without energy. Can someone help me to get a survey document done through ODK collect please?
Hello,
My name is Harrisson Richard. I’m a Software Developer based in Beira, Sofala Province, Mozambique.
Over the past year, I’ve developed a growing interest in Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) and data analysis. This curiosity led me to explore the field more deeply, connect with professionals, and discover tools that support M&E work — one of the most impactful being ODK, which I came across through one of these connections. I was truly fascinated by how technology can empower communities and improve decision-making through meaningful data.
Outside of work, I find peace and adventure riding motorcycle through local trails and communities. It keeps me grounded and connected with the real stories behind the data.
Fun fact: I often catch myself talking more about agriculture than software development. There’s something about the land, growth, and potential that deeply inspires me.
Most people say that if I hadn’t studied Computer Engineering, I would’ve become an Agronomist or Extension Officer — and honestly, I believe they might be right.
Hello ODK Community, I am Ivan Bukenya from Uganda working on Livelihood and Market System Projects and want to learn more about ODK Central since I have not used it more despite that I have handle raw ODK.
I am Juan Solon, and my work is mainly in the Philippines, although residing elsewhere.
We have been using various tools to get data reliably, but Entities have made ODK much more usable in many scenarios for our work.
We started using ODK in 2017 with a colleague from LSHTM. We then switched to REDCap for a longitudinal study, because Entities were not yet implemented. With Entities, our group in the Philippines has committed to using ODK. We currently self-host ODK Central with very little IT support, following instructions in ODK Docs. Most of our work are observational studies, trials and monitoring and evaluation in the field of nutrition.
I have no fun fact, but here is my cat. He is ~ 15 years old.
I'm new to the ODK community and excited to be here. I'm currently using ODK for collecting data in various industry expos that I have attended, and I’m looking forward to learning from others and contributing where I can.
